"Aysan" by Kourosh Kanani is a deeply personal journey, rooted in heritage and tradition but completely unbound by genre, fusing the sounds of Iranian, Armenian, Carnatic, flamenco, and jazz.
With each track, Kanani crosses musical and cultural boundaries, creating what feels like a dream but is as real as physical reality to Kourosh . This album captures his fearless exploration of heritage and innovation, weaving traditional and modern influences into a tapestry of intricate rhythms, haunting melodies, and improvisations.
Aysan is more than music—it’s a conversation across cultures, a reflection of identity, and a bold redefinition of the possibilities within a trio setting.
Gone, is an expression of loss. The feeling of loosing people we love dearly. The deep pain, the melancholia, the cold harsh feeling of knowing you will never see them again, warmed only by the memories you shared together, now more vivd than ever.
Gone features ancient instruments which are able to capture the essence of this sentiment such as the Duduk, the Kamaanche and the human voice. As well as the Daf, Tombak and an old piano. Evoking a deeply primal feeling.
Gone, is Kourosh’s way of reconnecting with his past while facing the pains of separation and the resilience that follows.
Each composition invites listeners to find solace sound and silence, reflecting a journey of remembrance and a desire to honor the traditions that continue to shape his music.
